Customer complaint: leaking on the bottom part, during the spin the the sound is louder than usual. Initial visit (Oct 29) — Mike S: Reported concern The customer reported a loud growling noise coming from the unit during the spin cycle. Assessment Inspection beneath the unit revealed that the main tub seal has failed, allowing water to leak onto the rotor assembly and drain pump. The water intrusion caused the main tub bearing to fail, which is the source of the heavy growling noise when the machine spins. Because the unit is 19 years old and replacing the tub seal and bearing assembly represents a major repair, the findings were discussed with the customer. Work performed Completed diagnostic evaluation. Due to the age of the appliance and the cost of necessary repairs, the customer elected to replace the unit rather than proceed with service. The service call is complete.
